Captain Flak was written by Dobba after watching the omnibus edition of Trumpton on BBC2 one wet Wednesday afternoon in the school holidays. Norbert refused to have anything to do with the song and Dobba recorded it with Richard 'Jeeves' Gibbs on vocals and additional guitar.
When interviewed by the N.M.E in 1994 Norbert had this to say about Captain Flak.
"To be honest I saw it as a betrayal. This was not in my opinion a Fingolstones song. Jeeves was nothing more than a session musician brought in at the last moment, I wasn't even consulted. Thankfully the record bombed, the public hated it and to be honest I had a smug smile on my face when it was disregarded by the hardcore Fingolstones fans. I will admit that Jeeves was a talented musician in his own right but he wasn't a patch on me. I chuckled to my self when he went bald at an early age. After all how many rock n roll stars do you know who are bald, except for Buster Bloodvessel of course but he was fat".

Captain Flak and his Firemen boys Got thrown in jail for making noise There Firemen din it was said Made a noise to wake the dead Captain Flak he disagree Let the boys and me go free
But the judge he wasn't having any of it
Captain Flak you're a naughty boy This fire service is just a ploy So as you can make some noise With those crazy fire boys Now you goddam listen to me You're going to the penitentiary
For ten long years "oh no judge"
Firemen boys I beg of you Don't crack now, I'll pull us though I'll get us out of this mess There's plenty of (indecipherable) at a guess We'll launch an appeal to set us free From the state penitentiary
It's gonna be a long hard struggle
Well down in Trumpton signs were out And over in Chigley rose the shout Let our Firemen boys go free Or we'll blow the penitentiary The judges house was under guard The Sergeant said "this jobs to hard"
Lets go have a word with the judge
Well Captain Flak and the boys are free Something something something something (no idea what he says here) Until you hear the fire bell The noise was just like being in hell So the mayor he got a possee down To chase the Firemen out of town
Well they had to do something
So if you're ever in the street Listening to the birdies tweet tweet And the peaceful sound suddenly shattered And your eardrums severely battered Just watch out for the source of the noise It's Captain Flak and those Firemen boys
