Drunken Reddish was the first Fingolstones track ever recorded. It was laid down in the summer of 1986 at the Cheedale Studios Loundsley Green (Where all Fingolstones tracks were unltimately recorded)

Beneath it's jaunty upbeat facade it is actually quite a dark tale. It follows the path of self destruction taken by Ian"Jan" Reddish, whose fondness for alcohol proved to be his downfall. The song graphically outlines what can happen when too much of the amber nectar is introduced into the human body. Such horrors as "spending the night with Greg" and "having to apologise to Mr Sedgwick" are amongst the perils of over indulgence. The song is based on a traditional sea shanty and given a contempoary theme.

It marked the beginning of an epic journey for the Firemen, through various musical styles. It is a simple ditty but fondly remembered by all the band, this is where it all began.

30 Years on, still drunk and still sweating.

Er Ly in the morning.

(Chorus)
Wey Hey and up she rises

Er Ly in the morning.

Make him drink a pint of orange

Er Ly in the morning

(Chorus)

Make him apologise to Mr Sedgwick
Make him apologise to Mr Sedgwick
Make him apologise to Mr Sedgwick
Er Ly in the morning

(Chorus)

Make him spend the night with Greg
Make him spend the night with Greg

Er Ly in the morning

(Chorus)

Make him watch the Spireites
Make him watch the Spireites
Make him watch the Spireites
Er Ly in the afternoon

(Chorus)

What shall we do with a drunken Reddish
