Throughout their heyday the Possee were known for many things, drunkeness, failing miserably with women and owning crappy cars being just 3. One thing they were not renowned for was their fashion sense.

One of the main offenders was The Charmer. Despite having a seemingly bottomless wallet and buying more clothes than was ever humanly possible to wear, they were all without exception awful. As The Charmer was pushing 70 his choice of young persons clothes was inexcusable, it may have been OK if they had been decent clobber but they just weren't. This was despite the fact he bought them from the towns leading fashion outlets and they usually cost an absolute fortune.
Another major blunderer was Jonah whose habit of tucking hideous jockey style shirts into his tracksuit bottoms was, at times, hilarious. He was also notorious for his love of fake designer clothing that usually fell to pieces after one wear. Norbert too had his share of fashion faux pas including pink cardigans and skin tight deep blue jeans. One item he was ridiculed for was a rather nice sweatshirt from Next. Norbert never agreed with the criticism this item received and he still has it to this day and sometimes when feeling pangs of nostalgia he even wears it. He still insists that the "Brown Top" was and is quality schmutter.

Also Daz had his Bay City Rollers shirts, Goffy his Shakin Stevens denim combination and Laws his A Hat, but by far the worse though was Bucko. He bought nearly all his clothes from top boutique "Votre Prix" (or in English "Your Price"). Every week Bucko would turn up in the same pair of hideous half mast grey corduroy trousers. When asked why he always wore the same trousers he proudly announced that he actually had 2 pairs the same so they weren't always the same pair. The Ruby slippers mentioned in the song were a pair of bright red Fila suede trainers/boots which really didn't go with the cords. He once turned up at the Salty club with a rather dubious shirt and declared proudly that it was his new fashion shirt (he had bought it from his mums catalogue which indeed described the item as a "fashion shirt"). Much hilarity and taking of the piss ensued.

Other offenders included Plumby with his stripey shirts, Bentley Boy and his bizarre choices of stuff from the Next bargain bin and Possee associate Mark Walton with his Zee trainers.
This song then is a celebration of late 80's early 90's fashion or rather the Possee's version of it. It also see's the return of The Charmer to the band although only in sampled form. The final word of the penultimate verse sees The Charmer singing "Ayyyyy". This Ayyyyy is actually taken from the song "The Foxy Rap" on the Captain Whistle album. The Charmer has demanded royalties for the use of the sample and threatened to sue. A Fingolstones spokesman said "We have told him 2 hopes whistle, he's got Bob Hope".

An LA Lakers Jacket, not even the Possee
 would wear one of these.

Bentley Boy & Plumby went shopping at Next
To get a shirt for round town
But their choice of garment left the possee vexed
As they looked a right pair of clowns
One half was orange and one was white
It really was quite shocking
It looked completely and utterly shite
Made Mark Waltons trainers look rocking

Jonah thought he was trendy and a real cool guy
With fake LaCoste made of cotton
But he went and blew it my oh my
With Wonderstuff shirts tucked in track suit bottoms
He got fake Ralph Laurens from his brother in law
And fake Stone Islands as well
His whole wardrobe was just breaking the law
He was living in sartorial hell

Bucko was the youngest he was just a sprog
He couldn't get served in pub
So he bought a fashion shirt from his mums catalogue
And wore it proudly to the club
He teamed it with some half mast cords
Crikey he looked a real sight
And when he got some trainers to top it all off
We said "Buck your Ruby Slippers are shite"

Foxy thought he looked real good this is true
But we were never quite sure
He thought he was a real fashion guru
We thought his schmutter piss poor
And he had a brand new shirt and jeans every week
He'd buy em with his dole pay
Some were so hideous we could hardly speak
But he'd just stand there and say "Ayyyyyyyyyy"

When it came to fashion the Possee were masters
Of crimes against style and schmutter disasters
Ice wash jeans and Adidas kick
Enough to make David Beckham sick
Mr Man T-shirts from Jeffs fashion shop
Pink Cardies, A-Hats not forgetting brown top
Bucks Cords from Your Price oh how we laughed
Foxy in Joe Bloggs dint he look daft
Back in the day barnets and schmutter were dodgy
Now we're all getting old grey and podgy

Unbelievably, skin tight Ice Wash jeans have actually made a comeback. The pair in this picture however are a pair of Daz's old ones that he regularly wore round town in 1989.

The look of glee on Jonahs face is obvious as he raises a glass to the new ropey fake Lacoste shirt he has just purchased from a dodgy bloke in a Blackpool back street.
