Norbert was a founder member of the Fingolstones back in 1986 when he was known simply as Lee to his mates, Richards to those who knew him less well (like Billy Gratton), or Stumpy (best left in the mists of time). Norbert, as we shall call him from now on, formed The Fingolstones Firemen with close chum Mark 'Dobba' Dawson. The band proved an outlet for the growing pains of their teenage years as well as an opportunity to take the p**s out of their dwindling band of friends.
Norbert's gravelly atonal vocals proved a Fingolstones trademark and left an impression on all who heard them in those early recordings. A pioneer of new forms of musical expression he introduced synthesisers to the Fingolstones sound and he always managed to keep his ideas at least two steps in front of his talent.
After Fingolstones Norbert has pursued a career in law enforcement and is now a settled man in contrast to those heady drunken days of yore ... he even grew a beard at one point and has not been know to miss an episode of Coronation Street since 1994. Periodically plagued by bouts of nostalgia, however, he still yearned to relive the glory days of the Fingolstones whilst sat upstairs in the spare bedroom making model airplanes.
Therefore, despite pleadings from most decent folk not to do it, he reformed the band in 2008. Nowadays despite having moved on from model airplanes to teaching his children all about video games and and Chesterfield Football Club he still finds time to write and record new music. Well music in the loosest sense of the word that is.
